They have always been flexible with scheduling (Expecially with school schedules, even if what you are going for doesn't involve a future with Fire Mountain). They offer so many benefits including: full paid health, dental, vision, matching 401k, costco cards, company paid lunches,company funded employee appreciation days, holiday gifts for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and paid training if requested. I have grown leaps and bounds with this company which not only makes me a more valuable employee for Fire Mountain but more valuable for other companies if I ever wanted to take that route. Fire Mountain is a great place for anyone to grow, if you have a good work ethic and drive. That alone speaks for the long term career opprotunities there are at Fire Mountain Gems. In fact each month they have 4-5 employees that either get their 10 year diamond ring or 20 year ruby ring as a thank you for their dedication. I have worked for Fire Mountain Gems for over 10 years. but if you’re anywhere near the middle or the bottom. Other departments would have paid for lunches but customer service would have to do a pot luck if they wanted to do something. You are rewarded periodically, as a company, with a day to wear jeans. Which was extremely frustrating because there was also mandatory overtime when e-services was behind on email. And for those who worked in things like e-services, they’d have to sit through these meetings despite knowing the updates already because of email. You had mandatory weekly LONG meetings that would be eliminated if the people answering phones had an email address. For good work, you’re given rubber ducks and balloons and money to use toward the company. You get a little bit more trust when you go to the outer customer service departments (e-services, returns, etc.) but it is still not as great as when you work in another department. Customer service is treated like children - particular when you answer phones. I also worked in the internet marketing department, which was such a big change that it felt like I switched companies. And not just because you’re dealing with customers. which, while managers try their best to make it fun, is one of the most frustrating departments to work in. For the majority of my time here, I worked in the customer service department. For me, this was a mediocre place to work.
